Gianluigi Donnarumma was at his best as Paris Saint-Germain kept a clean sheet in an eventual 1-0 victory away against Arsenal in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Tuesday night.

The Italy international made a series of important saves to deny the likes of Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka in what was another memorable night in England for the former Milan stopper.

Donnarumma has particularly fond memories of playing in England, given his role in Italy’s EURO 2020 victory over the Three Lions in the Wembley final.

Donnarumma also made headlines with his double penalty save against Liverpool in the penalty shootout in the Champions League round of 16 earlier this season, denying Curtis Jones and Darwin Nunez to send PSG through to the quarter-finals.

PSG have a particularly impressive record against Premier League sides in the Champions League this season, having also beaten Manchester City 4-2 towards the end of the league phase, and having qualified from the quarter-finals at the expense of Aston Villa earlier in April.

Now into the semis, and with a 1-0 advantage ahead of their home leg next week, PSG have Donnarumma to thank again for a series of big saves to keep Arsenal at bay at the Emirates.

The most impressive of Donnarumma’s interventions came in the 56th minute, preventing Trossard one-on-one with a fantastic one-handed save down to his left when the Belgian looked nailed on to score.

He also stopped Martinelli one-on-one from a similar angle a few moments before the clock struck 45 minutes in the first half.
