One of the most awaited Bollywood movies, Raid 2, is set to release on May 1. The film aims to capitalise on the success of its predecessor. Raid 2 will feature a clash between Ajay Devgn and Riteish Deshmukh. The trailer of the movie has already created immense buzz among the audience and the result can be seen at the time of advance bookings.

Same as its first instalment, Raid 2 features income tax officer Amay Patnaik (Ajay Devgn), who tracks down another crime and conducts a raid on the premises of Dada Manohar Bhai (Riteish Deshmukh). The intense power-packed storyline will see Ajay Devgn and Riteish Deshmukh’s characters trying to outwit each other and win.

Raid 2 advance bookings

The Raj Kumar Gupta directorial has already made a net collection of Rs 5.95 crore from the advance bookings as per Sacnilk. This includes both blocked seats and general tickets. The film is expected to see a lot of footfall on the opening day.

Raid 2 has seen a good response in terms of advance bookings from metro cities like Mumbai, Pune, the National Capital Region, Chennai and Kolkata.


Raid 2 early predictions

The film has a massive advantage as it is releasing on May 1 on the occasion of Maharashtra Day. The holiday is expected to be in favour of the film. As per early estimates, the movie is aiming for a Rs 14-16 crore opening at the domestic box office. Raid 2 is expected to follow the footsteps of Drishyam 2 and Shaitaan, which made Rs 15.38 crore and Rs 15.21 crore, respectively, on their opening day.

However, the continuing success of Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2 could throw a wrench in the plans. Marvel’s Thunderbolts* is also releasing on May 1. For Raid 2, the road to box office success might not be so easy.


Raid box office collection

Raid was based on the real-life event of the longest income tax raid at Lucknow in the 80s. As per Sacnilk’s data, the movie opened with Rs 10.04 crore at the box office and by the end of the first week it made Rs 63.05 crore domestically. The film was declared a superhit after it grossed Rs 132.14 crore in India. Raid’s overseas collection was Rs 22.05 crore.
