ChatGPT New Feature: OpenAI announced on Tuesday that now users can search, compare, and buy products directly through ChatGPT. This feature is also being made available to Plus, Pro, Free, and logged-out users, wherever ChatGPT is used. OpenAI has clarified that the products that will be shown on ChatGPT are independently selected and these are not advertisements.

Now users can search for a product on ChatGPT, compare its options, and get the option to buy them within ChatGPT itself. Apart from this, they will also see personalized suggestions, photo details, prices, and user reviews, as well as links for direct purchase.

OpenAI said that many people use ChatGPT with the intention of getting information and purchasing products. For example, if someone asks, "I want to buy costumes for my two dogs", ChatGPT will understand the purchase intent from that question and show a visual product carousel, details, and links to related websites. This feature will be available in GPT-4o and 4o-mini models.

Products will be found according to the question.

ChatGPT shows a product when it understands from the user's question that the user has the intent to buy something. This intent is known from the user's question and other contexts (such as ChatGPT memory or custom instructions). The product listings that ChatGPT shows may include prices and reviews with the help of third-party providers. Clicking on a price may also show the user alternative prices from other sellers of that product. However, the starting price shown in ChatGPT is that of the first seller and is not necessarily the cheapest.
