New Delhi: Actor Suriya is eagerly awaiting the release of his upcoming movie Retro, which features Pooja Hegde as the female lead. The film is set to release on May 1 and will compete at the box office with Raid 2, HIT 3, and Tourist Family. Suriya extended his best wishes to these films on X (formerly Twitter).
Suriya’s Tamil film will hit theatres the same day as Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2 and Nani’s HIT 3, creating strong competition at the box office. Ahead of the release, Suriya posted a heartfelt message on social media, wishing actors Sasikumar, Simran, Nani, and Ajay Devgn good luck. His thoughtful gesture won praise from fans, who appreciated his respectful and supportive attitude.

Written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Retro Stars Surya as Paarivel Paari Kannan, with Pooja Hegde Playing Rukmini (Rukku). The cast also include Baby Aavni, Joju George, Jayaram, Karunakaran, Nassar, Prakash Raj, and Sujith Shankar in key Roles.
The film has generated a strong buzz and has already crossed the Rs 10 crore mark in advance bookings. This early success indicates that Retro could potentially surpass Kanguva’s opening-day box office record.
