A major fashion has announced that one of its high street shops will be closing for good. is set to shut its store, with it being replaced by a fast food joint.

Posters on the door of the St Stephens Street store said: "Sorry, we are closing down. Your nearest store is Great Yarmouth and we are always open at yoursclothing.co.uk. Thank you for shopping with us, we'll see you soon!"

According to plans submitted to Norwich City Council, taking its place will be Pepe's Piri Piri, a chicken fast food chain.

If approved, the unit will get a new shopfront, signage, and an extraction canopy. It will be one of Pepe's over 220 stores across the UK, Morocco, and the UAE.

Locals shared their disappointment in the shop's closure on social media. One said: "It's so sad to see these stores closing, soon the high street will be empty."

Another shopper said: "I loved that there was a shop for us plus size girlies". A third added: "So sad, another blow to the British high street."

A staff member told in March that they were unaware of the shop closing down after learning about Pepe's submitting their planning application in the paper.

They said: "We haven't been told anything though from the company as to what's going on. At the moment, it's just the planning application, and I hope that if someone else did move in, we'd move somewhere else. But we have no idea what's going on - we're only the little people, but we'll see."

It is not the only Yours Clothing store to shut recently. The one in Birmingham's Bullring shopping centre closed a few weeks ago, and the branch in Chesterfield's Vicar Lane shopping centre shut last year.

Yours Clothing focuses on fashion for women sizes 14 to 40 and has over 100 stores across the UK. It is owned by AK Retail, which also operates M&Co and Bad Rhino.

This comes after the Centre for Retail Research released new figures on the number of shops closing their doors - 13,479 in 2024 alone. That is 37 shops shutting every day. Over 11,000 of these closures were independent shops and over 2,000 were chains.

The Express has contacted Yours Clothing for confirmation and comment.
