After Yamunotri and Gangotri, the doors of Kedarnath on May 2 and Badrinath Dham also open on May 4. According to religious beliefs, the devotees do not get any kind of hindrance in Chardham Yatra after starting the journey from Yamunotri.
Yamunotri is the origin of the Yamuna River. Yamuna ji is the sister of Yamraj and she has a boon that she will remove the suffering of everyone through her water. It is believed that the devotee who bathes in Yamunotri gets freedom from the fear of death. For this reason, devotees start Chardham Yatra with Yamunotri.
