Suspense crime, Digital Desk : During Microsoft’s most recent LlamaCon AI developer event held in California, CEO Satya Nadella stated that AI writes between 20 and 30 percent of the code in their software repositories. In a discussion with Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, Nadella seemed to be stressing the further integration of AI into all software engineering tasks.
“The percentage of AI created code is increasing steadily,” claimed Nadella. Meta claimed that companies are now leveraging big data to improve how businesses build products.
Meta’s Einhorn: Engineering ‘The Next Llama’ With AI
While Zuckerberg didn’t confirm the level of AI involved in Meta’s coding, he made it clear that the company is working on AI systems which could assist in developing later versions of their Llama models. He stated that in a year’s time, AI would be able to execute 50% of Meta’s software engineering tasks.
AI Coding Gaining Popularity Across The Technology Sector
Microsoft and Meta are not the only ones who are integrating AI into development. Other established companies are also making use of AI to improve the efficiency of coding activities:
Google: CEO Sundar Pichai stated that over 25% of their new code is now being generated by AI.
Shopify: Employees now need to explain why a task wouldn’t be possible for AI to complete before onboarding more employees.
Duolingo: Plans to gradually shift some of their human contractors to AI systems.
These firms are of the opinion that the automation of programming tasks through AI will enhance development, operational efficiency, and allow even basic text commands to facilitate software creation.
