For someone who is slightly interested in Bollywood they would know the name of every iconic actor including Mac Mohan. Known for his iconic role as Sambha in Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendras legendary film Sholay Mac Mohan contributed to Indian cinema for approximately 46 years. During his four-decade career Mac often played grey characters. Throughout his career Mohan has left an indelible mark on the audience. Apart from Hindi films Mac Mohan also featured in regional cinema including Bhojpuri Gujarati Haryanvi Marathi Punjabi Bengali and Sindhi films. Mohan Makijany popularly known as Mac Mohan was born in Karachi British India in 1938. Mac Mohan worked in more than 200 films and gained recognition for his villainous roles in movies during the 1970s and 1980s. Mac Mohan has been part of various hit and renowned films such as Don Karz Satte Pe Satta Zanjeer Rafoo Chakkar Shaan Khoon Pasina and Sholay. Did you know that Mac Mohan wanted to be a cricketer in the initial days of his career? However fate had something else planned for him. Mac Mohans father was a colonel in the British army. His father got transferred and the family moved from Karachi to Lucknow. Following this Mohan moved to Mumbai to pursue his dreams in cricket. However to follow that he needed money—and for that he needed to work. Hence Mohan started working in drama after his friend advised him. Little did Mohan know he would also start receiving offers from the film industry. Mohan worked as an assistant in the film Haqeeqat but he also played a small role with Vinod Khanna in the film Reshma Aur Shera. Though he became a part of several movies his real recognition came when he featured in Amitabh and Dharmendras film Sholay. Mohans downfall happened when the actor got addicted to alcohol and cigarettes. He became a chain smoker which took his life. He was diaganosed with cancer and passed away in 2010.
