The new MPV Kia Carens has been teased by the South Korean carmaker in India for the first time. The Kia Clavis, which is based on the Kia Carens MPV but has more upscale amenities and style, is scheduled to launch on May 8, 2025. The Kia Clavis and Kia Carens will remain offered jointly throughout the nation based on the brand’s recent introductions.
The company previously introduced the Kia Seltos, a small SUV based on the Kia Sonet, and both models are offered for sale in India. To make it a more profitable luxury MPV offering, the Kia Clavis, a 6/7-seater MPV, will have many more amenities and design aspects than the Kia Carens.
Design of the Kia Carens
According to the teaser picture, the Kia Carens will get triple beam LED headlights and revised boomerang-shaped LED DRLs. It will also get new bumpers, two-tone alloy wheels, and an updated front grille with new inlays. LED taillights connected by a light bar will be installed at the rear.
Features of the Kia Carens
The inside of the Kia Carens will have a huge touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, updated seat upholstery, and new trim materials for a more upscale appearance. The instrument console will resemble that of the Seltos.
Additionally, it will include a 360-degree video system, a panoramic sunroof, and a Level 2 ADAS system with capabilities including Smart Cruise Control, Blind Spot Collision Warning, and Lane Keep Assist.
Engine and Transmission of the Kia Carens
The Kia Carens will have a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that produces 115 PS and 144 Nm, a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine that produces 160 PS and 253 Nm, and a 1.5-liter diesel engine that produces 116 PS and 250 Nm, similar to the Kia Carens and Kia Seltos, according to several media sources.
A 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, a 6-speed iMT unit, and a 6-speed manual gearbox will be available as gearbox choices.
Kia Cravis: Cost
For obvious reasons, the Kia Carens will cost more than the Kia Carens; the base model will start at around Rs 12 lakh, while the top-spec model would cost up to Rs 22 lakh.
Kia Cravis: Rivalry
Alongside the Kia Sonet, Kia Seltos, Kia Carnival, and Kia EV6, the Kia Clavis will be part of the brand’s domestic offering. It will compete with the Mahindra XUV700 and Hyundai Alcazar.
