New Delhi: In a recent phone call, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio assured External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar of America's dedication to collaborating with India in the fight against terrorism. This conversation took place against the backdrop of rising tensions between India and Pakistan following the tragic Pahalgam terror attack.
Jaishankar emphasized the need for accountability, stating that those responsible for the Pahalgam attack must face justice. He shared on social media, "Discussed the Pahalgam terrorist attack with US @SecRubio yesterday. Its perpetrators, backers, and planners must be brought to justice."
India has pointed to "cross-border linkages" in connection with the April 22 attack that resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians, vowing to impose strict penalties on those involved.
The US State Department reported that Rubio expressed condolences for the victims of the devastating attack and reiterated the US's commitment to working alongside India to combat terrorism.
Additionally, he urged India to engage with Pakistan to reduce tensions and foster peace and security in the South Asian region.
