Pradosh vrat: In Sanatan Dharma, Pradosh Vrat has been considered very virtuous and important fast. This fast is considered to be the medium of attaining the grace of Lord Shiva and getting rid of the sufferings of life. This fast is mentioned in the Shiva Purana and it is believed that by doing this fast with reverence and rule, the blessings of Lord Shiva are obtained. With the beginning of May 2025, it is important for Shiva devotees to know when the Pradosh fast will be kept this month.
Every month Pradosh fast is kept on the Trayodashi date of Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha. On this day, devotees worship Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati and get special fruits. This fast is considered to be very important not only spiritually, but also from astrological point of view.
According to the Vedic almanac, the first Pradosh fast of May will be kept on the Trayodashi date of Vaishakh Shukla Paksha. This date will start on 9 May 2025 at 2.56 pm and will end on May 10 at 5.29 am. The first Pradosh fast will be kept on Friday, 9 May 2025. On this day, the time of Pradosh Kaal for worshiping Lord Shiva will be from 7:01 pm to 9:08 pm.
The second Pradosh fast of May will be kept on Saturday, 24 May 2025. This Jyeshtha falls according to the Trayodashi date of Krishna Paksha. This date will start on May 24 at 7.20 pm and end on May 25 at 3.51 pm. On this day, auspicious Pradosh Kaal will be from 7:20 pm to 9:13 pm for worshiping Lord Shiva, in which devotees will get a total of 2 hours and 1 minute opportunity for worship.
By observing this fast, a person gets mental peace, family happiness and economic prosperity. This fast is considered to be the medium of getting special blessings of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati. It is believed that by observing this fast, a person receives the grace of Lord Shiva. This destroys all sorrows from life and brings happiness and prosperity in the house.
