Guwahati: Lakshman Prasad Acharya, the governor of Assam, was present at the 10th Prof. Sarat Mahanta Memorial Lecture on Thursday at Royal Global University in Guwahati. The governor of Assam honored Prof. Sarat Mahanta’s illustrious heritage.
Prof. Mahanta was an academic whose writings included philosophy, history, and social activity, the governor said. Peers and students held him in high regard for his unwavering commitment to the cause of human rights.
Governor Acharya praised the foundation’s effort to honor Prof. Mahanta’s efforts with this memorial lecture series, stating that it is a heartfelt homage to his enduring influence on the social and academic arenas.
According to Acharya, a forum such as the Dr. Sarat Mahanta Foundation is essential for promoting creative and revolutionary discussions on the political, sociocultural, historical, and economic aspects of Northeast India. Prof. Mahanta emphasized the importance of honoring India’s rich cultural legacy and maintaining its foundations.
Akshat Gupta, a well-known novelist, poet, lyricist, and motivational speaker, gave the event’s keynote address. Social worker Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, Assam DGP Harmeet Singh, and other dignitaries were in attendance.
