Mahila samridhi yojana: Life is often full of hurdles, especially for women who work tirelessly to support their families with limited means. Understanding these challenges, the Delhi government has introduced a truly heart-touching initiative, the Mahila Samridhi Yojana, to offer both immediate help and long-term financial security to women who need it the most.

Monthly Financial Assistance with a Smart Savings Plan

Under this new scheme, eligible women will receive ₹2,500 every month. However, in a wise move to build financial discipline, only a portion of the money will be available for immediate use through the women’s Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) wallet. The remaining amount will be deposited into a Recurring Deposit (RD) account, encouraging savings and helping women create a strong financial foundation for the future.

The exact amount to be saved and the lock-in period for the RD account will soon be decided in a meeting led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. Through this balanced approach, the government aims to meet women’s current needs while also securing their tomorrow.

Who Can Benefit from the Mahila Samridhi Yojana

This beautiful scheme is targeted at women who truly deserve it. Women aged between 21 and 60 years, belonging to Antyodaya or Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, and residing in Delhi are eligible. A valid ration card issued by the Food and Supplies Department is mandatory. Moreover, only one woman per family can benefit, ideally the eldest woman, provided all the family’s children are fully vaccinated or following the vaccination schedule. The initiative cleverly ties health and welfare together, ensuring children’s well-being while empowering women financially.

A Secure Future with Recurring Deposits

The money saved in the RD account will stay locked for a set period, usually one, three, or five years. This not only ensures disciplined savings but also earns regular interest. When the lock-in period ends, women will receive a significant lump sum, giving them the freedom to invest in education, start a small business, or meet any essential family need.

A Bold Step Toward Women’s Empowerment

With a generous budget of ₹5,100 crore, the Mahila Samridhi Yojana aims to change the lives of more than 17 lakh women in its first phase. This initiative isn’t just about giving financial aid; it’s about building confidence, self-reliance, and a future full of possibilities for countless women.
