Punjab-Haryana Water Disputes: As the temperature is increasing in the country, the demand for water is also increasing and in such weather, water has also increased the political temperature of both states. The meetings are going on from Chandigarh to Delhi. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann held an all -party meeting at Punjab Bhawan in Chandigarh. Apart from this, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan has also called a meeting of Chief Secretaries of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh in Delhi. In the meeting of the Home Secretary, Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) chief Manoj Tripathi and representatives of the Ministry of Water Power are also present.

The meeting of the Ministry of Home Affairs has started regarding the decision of Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) to provide additional water to Haryana and not release water from Bhakra Dam. The Chief Secretary of Punjab is on leave, due to which the Additional Chief Secretary of the state Alok Shekhar and the Principal Secretary of Water Resources Department Krishna Kumar are participating in the meeting. Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi is also present in this meeting. According to the information, senior officials of the Central Government are monitoring every activity regarding the obstacles coming from Bhakra Dam to release of extra water from Haryana. The Ministry of Home Affairs has also paid attention to the deployment of police around Bhakra Dam in Nangal.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann called an all -party meeting in Chandigarh. Representatives of all political parties of the state participated in the all -party meeting held at Punjab Bhawan in Sector 3, Chandigarh over water dispute with Haryana. State President Sunil Jakhar and senior leaders Manoranjan Kalia from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Balwinder Singh and Daljit Cheema from Shiromani Akali Dal and Rana AP Singh and Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa from Congress were present.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, while rejecting the demand for additional water from Haryana, demanded from the Center that the water stopped after the Indus water treaty was canceled to meet the demands of Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi. He also claimed that Haryana has taken its share of water only till March. No more water can be given.
