New Delhi. Skype, known for video conferencing in its era, is going to shut down now. Microsoft announced a few months ago that it was going to shut down his popular video calling service Skype. Now that the month of May has arrived, it is time to say goodbye to Skype. Skype, launched in 2003, was once the unconscious king of the world of video calling, but over time he lagged behind in competition. Microsoft is now focusing its focus on Microsoft Teams and has decided to close Skype forever.
Microsoft is shutting down Skype in May 2025 to focus all its communication services on Microsoft Teams. The company has said that it wants to integrate its free consumer communication services to provide better service according to the changing needs of the users. Teams are now being introduced as a modern communication and collaboration platform.
Skype will continue to work till 5 May 2025 so that users can get time to shift on Teams. Microsoft has promised to help and give resources to make this infection easier. This will be a smooth migration process, in which users will be able to see their old information in Teams.
Microsoft has discontinued Skype's new paid subscription, although existing paid users will be able to use their services until their next renewal cycle is completed. The remaining Skype Credit of the users can also be used through Teams or web portal, but will be completely finished later.
It will be quite easy to go from Skype to Microsoft Teams. Users will be able to log in from their Skype login to Teams. All their contacts, messages and conversations will be automatically transferred to Teams. Teams have all the features like Skype, as well as additional facilities like calendar integration and community -based tools.
Even though Skype has been a straightforward and popular video calling service, but now Microsoft is focusing on Teams. It is clear that Teams are being made the successor of Skype. So it can be said “Microsoft Teams is now a new Skype.”
