Keep aside the batting massacre; the Sunrisers Hyderabad has been awful on the field, dropping catches and letting go of the ball to the boundary. Baring Aniket Verma, no one's effort was a spectacle for a do-or-die match for the southern giant! On the other side of the coin, Gujarat Titans were top notch on the field. With the bat, unfortunately, it was Abhishek Sharma who kept the fight alive despite Hyderabad suffering from dot balls in the middle. With Gujarat Titans defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in Ahmedabad by 38 runs, the guests become the second team to get eliminated from the playoff race after Chennai Super Kings.
Gujarat Titans posted a formidable total of 224/6 in their 20 overs, powered by explosive contributions from the top order. Captain Shubman Gill led the charge with a blistering 76 off 38 balls, hitting 10 fours and 2 sixes at a strike rate of 200. He was well-supported by Jos Buttler, who smashed 64 off 37 with 3 fours and 4 sixes. Sai Sudharsan set the tone early with a rapid 48 off 23 deliveries, including 9 boundaries.
Despite the strong start, Gujarat lost quick wickets at the death. Jaydev Unadkat was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 wickets for 35 runs in his 4 overs, including key scalps of Tewatia, Rashid Khan, and Washington Sundar. His final over saw three wickets fall, helping to curb Gujarat's momentum. Pat Cummins and Zeeshan Ansari chipped in with one wicket each.
