Thiruvananthapuram: State Minister Veena George has ordered an investigation into the event to determine its source after smoke was discovered in the UPS room of Kozhikode Medical College.
According to Kalpetta MLA, a lady from his constituency passed away after the smoke incident after being hospitalized. Officials have not yet verified the cause of death, however.
Minister George had also instructed the Medical Education Department Director to move the patients to a secure area on Friday evening, not long after the event. Additionally, she promised that any patient in need of emergency medical care will get it at the Beach Hospital.
“This evening, smoke crept into the UPS room of Kozhikode Medical College’s new building. We immediately moved every patient in the emergency room to a secure location for treatment. The building’s higher-level patients were also evacuated. The Kerala minister told reporters that orders had been given to make sure the building was empty.
