Scholarships worth Rs 73 crore to students
Advisor to Chancellor of Chandigarh University, Professor Dr. RS Bawa, while addressing a press conference in Sangrur, Punjab on Thursday, said that these students have received scholarships worth Rs 73 crore (including Rs 12 crore stipend) and one of them has been given the highest scholarship of Rs 1.28 crore.
Professor Bawa said that providing global academic and research experience to the students is the main priority of Chandigarh University. For this purpose, Chandigarh University has established 550 international collaborations. Due to this, till now more than 2000 students have had the opportunity to study in prestigious universities in various countries including America, Australia, Canada, UK through semester exchange, internship, and other programs.
CU has more than 1300 international visiting faculty and 560 research network scholars, while more than 3,000 foreign students from 65 countries are studying here. Apart from this, 310 students have participated in internships and cultural expos at Walt Disney World in Florida.
Favorite campus of multinational companies
Sharing the placement information for the academic session 2024-25, Dr. Bawa said, Chandigarh University has become a favorite destination for national and international brands and multinational companies due to its excellent placement record. This year 904 companies participated in the placement drive and gave a total of 9124 job offers to students in various streams. The highest international package for a student was Rs 1.74 crore, while the highest package domestically was Rs 54.75 lakh. 31 companies offered packages of Rs 20 lakh or more and 62 companies offered packages of more than Rs 15 lakh, allowing students to get their dream job.
897 job offers from national and international brands
Dr. Bawa said that 757 students pursuing higher education at Chandigarh University have received 897 job offers from leading national and international brands. Out of these, 312 students from Malwa region of Punjab have received job offers from top companies while 15 students from Sangrur have received 18 job offers from leading firms. Aman Bodar, a resident of Sangrur who has completed his B.Tech in Computer Science from University Institute of Engineering, Chandigarh University, has received a job offer from Tech Mahindra.
Similarly, Dhuri, Sangrur resident Ishika Bansal who completed her MBA from University School of Business has received a job offer from iValueplus Services Private Limited. Gimmi Bansal, a resident of Sangrur who has completed his MBA in Banking and Financial Engineering from Apex Institute of Technology (AIT), Chandigarh University, has received a job offer from CollegeDekho.com.
Dream of becoming an officer in the Indian Army fulfilled
Raghav, a resident of Malerkotla who completed Bachelor of Engineering (CSE) IBM-Big Data Analytics from CU-APEX Institute of Technology (AIT), Chandigarh University, has received a job offer from Tech Mahindra. Dr. Bawa said, apart from this, the NCC wing at Chandigarh University has fulfilled the aspirations of students aspiring to serve the country. 43 cadets trained in the NCC wing of CU have been appointed as officers in all three wings of the Indian Armed Forces.
Number 1 in QS World University Rankings
Sharing information on the consistent progress of Chandigarh University in the global rankings, Prof. Bawa said that due to its commitment to prepare skilled and talented workforce for the industry, CU is touching remarkable heights in domestic and global education world, as evidenced by the recent QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025 and other annual rankings. In just 12 years of its establishment, CU has established itself as a leading institution.
