In a major relief for rural families aspiring to build a permanent home, the deadline for the PM Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G) survey has been extended. The central government has now provided an additional 15 days, giving eligible households more time to complete their application and secure financial assistance of up to ₹1.20 lakh for house construction.
If you haven’t participated in the survey yet, this is your golden opportunity. But there's a catch — to increase your chances of getting priority in the beneficiary list, you must pay attention to a crucial detail while filling out the form.
Initially set to end on April 30, the survey deadline has now been extended to May 15, 2025, as part of the government’s push to reach more households still living in kutcha (temporary) homes. This marks the third time the survey period has been extended, signaling the administration's intent to ensure no eligible family is left behind. However, there's no assurance of further extensions — so applicants are urged not to delay any further.
Under the scheme, individuals can receive up to ₹1.20 lakh in financial assistance to build a pucca (permanent) house. But to qualify, your home or plot must be surveyed and verified during the official process.
You don’t need to visit an office or wait for someone else to complete your survey. The government has simplified the process by allowing self-registration through a dedicated mobile application. This app is available in Hindi, English, and multiple regional languages for ease of use.
To start, download the PMAY-Gramin app and follow the instructions. You’ll need your Aadhaar number to proceed. During the process, an e-KYC (electronic Know Your Customer) verification will be completed using facial recognition. Once verified, you'll receive a PIN, allowing you to log in and fill out the rest of the form.
This digital-first approach ensures faster processing and transparency in the beneficiary selection process.
Here's the most important tip: During the survey, you will be asked under whose name the application should be submitted. If you choose the female head of the family — for example, your wife or mother — your application may receive priority consideration. Promoting women’s ownership and empowerment is one of the key goals of the PM Awas Yojana, and selecting a female applicant often leads to a better chance of being approved.
So, remember to nominate a woman from your household as the official applicant wherever possible.
Once e-KYC is completed and you’ve logged in, you’ll be required to enter the following information:
Your state, district, and village location details
Full residential address
Name of the family head
Job card number, if applicable
Number of family members
Details of each family member
Accurate and complete data entry will ensure that your application is processed smoothly and without unnecessary delays.
