Nirmal Kapoor, Anil Kapoor’s mother, dies at age 90; Boney and Shanaya are seen visiting the hospital

Nirmal Kapoor, the mother of Bollywood actors Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor, and film producer Boney Kapoor, died at the age of 90. She reportedly passed away in Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on Friday around 5:45 PM. For the last two months, she had been dealing with health issues. Her three sons, a daughter, and their families survive her. Actors Arjun Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, Khushi Kapoor, Mohit Marwah, Harshvardhan Kapoor, and Shanaya Kapoor were all descended from Nirmal. Her son-in-law is Sandeep Marwah.

Boney and Shanaya were seen in the hospital with Rhea Kapoor’s husband, director Karan Boolani, in the paparazzi-shared footage. Additionally, Janhvi was seen with Shikhar Pahariya, her lover.

According to information provided by the Kapoor family, Nirmal Kapoor’s funeral would be held at Vile Parle Crematorium, Pawan Hans, S.V. Road, Mumbai, on Saturday, May 3, at 11:30 AM.

Statement on Family Issues
Following Nirmala Kapoor’s death, the Kapoor family releases a statement. Boney Kapoor sent a touching message from his family along with the news of his mother’s demise on social media. An image of a young Nirmala was posted by the director, along with the caption, “She passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family.” She left behind four loyal children, a loving son-in-law, a loving daughter-in-law, eleven grandkids, four great-grandchildren, and a lifetime of cherished memories after leading a full and happy life.

The statement went on to say, “Everyone who knew her was impacted by her unending love and giving nature. We will always love and miss her, and she will always be in our hearts. The following people are listed: Boney, Anil, Reena, Sanjay, Sunita, Sandeep, Maheep, Mohit, Akshay, Sonam, Arjun, Rhea, Harshvardhan, Anshula, Janhvi, Shanaya, Khushi, Jahaan, Antara, Anand, Aashita, Karan, Thea, Vayu, Ayra, and Yuvaan.

Boney posted the message with the comment, “Maa (pensive face emoji).” Numerous social media users expressed their sympathies shortly after he posted.
