Rather, it is also considered beneficial for health. Most of the mangoes become the first choice of people as soon as summer starts. In the midst of the increasing demand of mangoes in this season, some people resort to chemicals to cook it early. Especially for this, calcium uses hazardous chemicals like carbide. Which is very harmful for health. FFSAI has issued a warning for this.
The gas that is often used in mango cooking is used. Calcium carbide stones or powders cause acetylene gas to come out in contact with moisture. Acetylene is a harmful gas for an original health. The same gas is also used in welding. After the acetylene is released, the powder made in the powder makes inaccuracies of arsenic like heavy metal etc. Which can be used in the upper peel of mangoes. This gas can harm the mango cooked during this period. Apart from this, phosphine and hydrogen sulfide gas can also be released in it, which is very harmful for health.
Calcium carbide is a chemical. Its use is usually used in factories. Some profiteering people use it illegally to cook fruits quickly. Such fruits seem cooked from outside. But you can remain raw from inside. Which are harmful for health. This is the reason that the Government of India has banned the use of calcium carbide in cooking fruits. Calcium carbide ripe fruits can cause problems for health in many ways.
Experts say that some people use calcium carbide to cook fruits quickly. This method is dangerous. Because it can cause fruits toxic. Breathing of calcium carbide can cause cough, chest pain and shortness of breathing. In severe cases, this can cause problems in breathing. Calcium carbide can burn skin and eyes.
In India, there is a ban on cooking fruits from calcium carbide under Section 44AA of 1955, 'Prevention of Food Adults Rule, 1955. Recently, Food Safety and Standard Authority of India i.e. FFSAI has instructed states and union territories to remain vigilant. It has also said that people who are involved in such illegal activities.
