In the middle order, Devdutt Padikkal and Jitesh Sharma came in and supported the tempo with some rapid scoring.

Romario Shepherd raising the spares of RCB's innings by some explosive batting at the death. His 53 in just 14 balls had Sheffield topping up an already great scoring pace with the score being the second-fastest ever recorded in IPL history. Shepherd went berserk in the death overs, ensuring that his runs came scrappily, despite having the misfortune of a thrice in an over Khaleel Ahmed belongings running 33 runs off him, propelling RCB at a fantastic total.

Chennai Tried their Best:

The Chennai Super Kings really got off to a flyer as Ayush Mhatre at the crease was certainly ruthless while Rasheed was lagging behind in timing. The start looked good, the fall of Rasheed was early, followed shortly thereafter by Sam Curran's brief cameo. It was then that Lungi Ngidi came into his own taking wickets and drying up the runs with a very controlled spell. However, CSK's Jadeja and Mhatre consolidated a precious partnership, which saw Mhatre score his first T20 fifty. Jadeja, whose No. 4 promotion was a curious move, went out from the moment of his promotion, while the dew factor was favouring the batters all the way.

Despite getting wickets, RCB was unable to establish any control over the game, particularly with their slower balls being reckoned quite well by the bat. A different momentum was set in when Mhatre was dropped by Rajat Patidar and was able to cruise to 94. However, the moment of truth came when Mhatre got out for 100 and RCB had yet another breakthrough with LBW for Brevis, although it looked close.
