Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor recently shared her regret over not finishing her college education and revealed that she’s now saving for her son Vayu Kapoor Ahuja’s academic future.
In a candid interview Sonam spoke about a moment that made her realize the value of education.
She recalled how her husband Anand Ahuja once took her to his alma mater the prestigious Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in the U.S. That visit left a deep impression on her.
“For the first time I felt envious” Sonam admitted. “Since then, I’ve started saving for Vayu’s education. I want him to be a curious knowledgeable child”
Influence of her husband’s background
Anand Ahuja’s academic background inspired Sonam. The business savvy entrepreneur who graduated from one of the world’s top business schools introduced to a new perspective on learning.
This experience made her more determined to provide a strong educational foundation for their son.
It’s worth noting that Anand’s family is quite wealthy with his father Harish Ahuja being a highly successful businessman.
Shift in perspective and personal growth
Sonam also discussed how motherhood and age have changed her outlook.
“With age I’ve learned that listening is more powerful than speaking. I no longer hold strong opinions about others like I used to. That mindset was a sign of immaturity” she confessed.
She believes that having a child brings back a sense of wonder and idealism that adults often lose.
Long standing interest in education
This isn’t the first time Sonam has expressed a desire to pursue education. Back in 2017 she told the Hindustan Times that she wanted to take up a course though she hadn’t yet decided what to study her eagerness to learn something new was clear.
Sonam had previously enrolled in a theatre and arts course at United World College of South East Asia in Singapore and had also taken distance learning courses through the University of Mumbai.
Personal life and film career
Sonam married Anand Ahuja on May 8, 2018. The couple announced their pregnancy in March 2022 and welcomed their son Vayu in August the same year.
After a break from acting following her pregnancy Sonam returned to the screen in the crime thriller Blind (2023) directed by Shome Makhija. The film also featured Purab Kohli Vinay Pathak and Lillete Dubey.
According to Indian news agency ANI, Sonam has signed two upcoming projects with further details expected to be announced soon.
