The common belief about alcohol has been that its consumption has a negative effect on health. But do you know that if alcohol is consumed in a balanced amount, it can also give some health benefits? However, this does not mean that people start drinking it daily as a healthy drink. According to scientific studies, limited quantity of alcohol consumption may be beneficial in some cases, but many conditions are attached to it.

Alcohol

In 1991, the US channel CBS report 'The French Paradox' stated that people in France are relatively less affected by heart diseases due to the consumption of red wine despite fat food. This increased the trend of considering red wine as beneficial for heart health worldwide. After this, it was revealed in many studies that those who consume small amounts of alcohol can live for a long time.

In 2001, scientists at Harvard University and Brigham and Women Hospital told through research that if some special genes drink limited amounts of alcohol, then their body may increase the level of 'good cholesterol' (HDL) in their body, which reduces the risk of heart diseases. At the same time, another study also found that if they drink alcohol up to 14 times a week in heart patients, then the risk of their death may decrease.

However, experts also warns that if the consumption of alcohol exceeds the quantity, it can have an adverse effect. Excessive drinking can cause problems like high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke. Also, some types of cancer, violence, accidents and mental health problems can also increase.

Possible benefits of beer and whiskey

The fiber and vitamin B groups present in beer nourishes the body and help in digestion. Apart from this, it can reduce the risk of kidney stones and balanced intake can also help in the strength of bones. The elajic acid present in whiskey is a powerful antioxidant, which can improve brain function and can be helpful in fighting cancer. A limited amount of whiskey intake can be helpful in strengthening the immune system, balanced blood sugar and improve digestion.

Who should not drink alcohol?

Pregnant women, people consuming medicines, people driving or engaged in risky tasks, youths under 21 years of age and people struggling with alcohol should stay away from alcohol.
