Brazilian police managed to effectively prevent a synchronized bomb attack during a massive concert of American pop singer Lady Gaga. The Saturday concert was at Rio’s Copacabana Beach and attracted over 2 million fans. Authorities reported that the conspiracy had been conjured up by an organized group responsible for spreading hate speech and radicalizing young people.

The suspects were charged with planning to use concert attendees to detonate explosives and Molotov cocktails within the event. They had presented themselves on social media as members of Gaga’s global fan base known as the “Little Monsters.”

The police operation was launched on the strength of a report submitted by the Ministry of Cyber Operations and intelligence from the Rio state police. The report showed online cells inciting violent activities among young people through coded messages and extremist symbols.

The group’s purported leader was arrested during the investigation in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in the south for illegally possessing weapons. Search and seizure warrants were also issued in more than a dozen states in Rio de Janeiro, Mato Grosso, Rio Grande do Sul, and São Paulo.

Rio de Janeiro’s Civil Police are working in tandem with the Ministry of Justice. Rio City Hall estimates that more than 2.1 million attended the concert.

Earlier, Lady Gaga has hinted that her new music will be a groundbreaking departure from her previous work.

Her upcoming release will mark her comeback since her 2020 album “Chromatica.”

The “Bad Romance” singer had been occupied with shooting the “Joker” musical alongside Joaquin Phoenix, putting her music on hold for a while.

However, fans can look forward to her new studio album, which she is currently developing.
