The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced on Sunday that it is creating a comprehensive digital platform called ECINET, which will consolidate and reorient over 40 of its current web and mobile applications into a single, intuitive interface. This is a major step towards simplifying electoral services.

By providing a smooth User Experience (UX) and an attractive and user-friendly User Interface (UI), ECINET seeks to streamline electoral procedures for voters and other stakeholders, such as political parties, election authorities, and civil society.

An official announcement from the Election Commission of India said that it was “developing a new user-friendly digital interface for the electors and its other stakeholders in a major initiative.”

According to the statement, users will no longer have to maintain several applications and logins thanks to the one-stop platform, which will also make it simple to access electoral data on desktop and mobile devices.

During the March 2025 Conference of Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs), which was attended by Election Commissioners Vivek Joshi and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar came up with the idea for ECINET. The ECINET effort is poised to replace significant current programs including the Voter Helpline App, Voter Turnout App, cVIGIL, Suvidha 2.0, ESMS, Saksham, and KYC App, which together have over 5.5 crore downloads, the statement said.

By doing this, the ECI stated that it hopes to make the entire electoral apparatus—which includes approximately 45 lakh poll workers, 10.5 lakh Booth Level Officers (BLOs), 15 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs) from political parties, 15,597 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), 4,123 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), and 767 District Election Officers (DEOs) nationwide—and nearly 100 crore voters more convenient.

To guarantee accuracy and dependability, ECINET will only accept data entered by authorized ECI personnel. The initial data recorded in statutory forms shall continue to be the official source in the event of differences.

In addition to following ECI’s directives, the platform will be completely consistent with the legislative requirements of the Representation of the People Acts of 1950 and 1951, the Registration of Electoral Rules, 1960, and the Conduct of Election Rules, 1961.
