Indian Idol Season 12 winner singer Pawandeep Rajan met with a serious car accident in Ahmedabad early on Monday, May 5, 2025. The accident is reported to have occurred at about 3:40 a.m., and the singer is critically injured, with his treatment by doctors already going viral on social media in the form of a video.

Pawandeep is visibly suffering in the video, with visible injuries on his left foot and right arm. The fans in the country are expressing concern, flooding social media with good wishes for his speedy recovery. Official news as to the cause of the accident and his current medical condition is awaited till now. This is a sad plunge that follows on the heels of the singer's birthday celebration on April 27.

Pawandeep Rajan was the overnight sensation when he won Indian Idol Season 12, leaving everyone amazed by his soulful voice and his capability to sing any genre of song. He beat five tough finalists — Arunita Kanjilal, Mohd Danish, Sayli Kamble, Nihal Tauro, and Shanmukha Priya — to win the prize of the winner, a car, and a ₹25 lakh cash prize.

From the Champawat district of the state of Uttarakhand, Pawandeep belongs to a family with roots in music. His mother Saroj Rajan, father Suresh Rajan, and sister Jyotideep Rajan are renowned Kumaoni folk musicians. A prodigy in music himself, Pawandeep won the Youngest Tabla Player Award when he was only 2 years old.

Before his Indian Idol win, Pawandeep was already famous after winning The Voice India in 2015 as a contestant of singer Shaan's team and winning ₹50 lakh prize money and a car.
