The couple live in the same luxury building in Hong Kong’s upscale Mid-Levels area but on separate floors, according to Chinese media outlet Swamp. They maintain separate finances and have no joint property.
Tse, 44, has transferred assets valued at HK$1 billion (US$129 million), including real estate and company shares, and pays HK$7.3 million annually in child support for his sons, Lucas and Quintus, from his previous marriage to actress Cecilia Cheung. Wong, 55, has transferred her real estate holdings to her daughter Li Yan, from her previous marriage to Chinese actor Li Yapeng.
Despite years of speculation, the two have said they have no plans to marry. “Together we are nearly 100 years old, so that physical certificate does not matter,” Tse said in a past interview. Wong added: “A relationship does not need legal certification.”

Sources close to the couple said their independence is key to their relationship. “One does not like being controlled, and the other does not like controlling others,” one source said, describing their bond as relaxed and stable. Online commentators say the relationship endures because of three key factors: no shared finances, no children together, and minimal public displays of affection.
Another source said Wong’s decision not to remarry may be influenced by fortune-telling. “She was told her marriage luck is poor, with an 80–90% chance of divorce if she marries again.” Wong has divorced twice.
“They may not be suited for marriage, but they are perfect for dating,” one Weibo user wrote.
Although they rarely appear together in public, fans have noted an increase in photos of the couple, rising from three in 2014 to 17 by 2025. Media outlets noted that the two “spent 11 years quietly loving each other to break deep-rooted prejudices against celebrity relationships and ease the fears of young people who wish to love but are afraid to.”

Born into a family of artists, Tse moved to Canada with his parents at the age of eight. In 1995, he studied music in Tokyo before launching his entertainment career the following year. He rose to fame as a singer in 1996 and successfully transitioned to acting two years later with roles in TV series and films like “New Police Story” and “Shaolin”. He later expanded his career to include directing, producing, and entrepreneurship, amassing a net worth of approximately US$143 million.
His romance with Wong began in 2000 at the height of Wong’s singing career. Tse later married Cheung in 2006. The couple had two sons before divorcing in 2011. In September 2014, Tse was revealed to have rekindled his relationship with Wong, who by then had gone through two marriages, to Chinese singer Dou Wei and actor Li Yapeng, and have two daughters.
Wong gained fame in the 1990s after moving from Beijing to Hong Kong at the age of 18. She became a well-known figure in Cantonese music and earned international recognition for her roles in films by Wong Kar-wai, such as “Chungking Express” and “2046”.
