The draw for the 2025 Italian Open has been announced with Emma Raducanu discovering that she has been handed a favourable opening match. The Brit will face an unknown qualifier in her first-round match, with Ekaterina Alexandrova waiting for the victor of that match in the second round.
The 22-year-old could go on to face Coco Gauff in the round of 16. Fellow Brit Katie Boulter will take on Anastasia Pavlyuchenko in the first round, and clashes with Australian Open victor Sofia Kenn and world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka could await her if she can overcome her early challengers.
Elsewhere, Iga Swiatek will take on Elina Avanesyan or Elisabetta Cocciaretto in the second round and Naomi Osaka could face Paula Badosa in what would be a blockbuster tie.
In the men's draw, Jannik Sinner is set to return to action for the first time since his Australian Open victory. The world No. 1 has now served his three-month suspension for a doping violation, and he will be keen to mark his return with a success in Rome.
The Italian received a bye for the first round and then will take on either world No. 99 Mariano Navone or teenager Federico Cina. Tougher tests await him further down the line though if he is able to hit the ground running. Sinner could face Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Frances Tiafoe and newly-crowned Madrid Open winner Casper Ruud before reaching the semi-finals.
Ruud beat Jack Draper to ensure that he heads to Italy in good form, and the latter will be hoping to go one better when he kickstarts his redemption bid when taking on either Luciano Darderi or Bu Yunchaokete in the second round.
The 23-year-old could then face Carlos Alcaraz once again in the quarter-finals, if the Spaniard is can get the better of either Yoshihito Nishioka or Jan-Lennard Struff. Jacob Fearnley, the only other British player to directly enter the main draw, will take on Fabio Fognini. Victory in the first-round would then see him face Matteo Berrettini.
Reigning Italian Open champion Alexander Zverev will kickstart his bid to retain his crown when he takes on either a qualifier or Camilo Ugo Carabelli. Learner Tien and Reilly Opelka will also battle it out in an all-American clash.
