This is a big step of the Supreme Court on the issue of transparency. Apart from this, information about all the candidates recommended for the Supreme Court and High Court has also been given on the website. The Supreme Court has also made public the appointment process in its and High Court. Apart from this, the criteria for appointment of judges in the Supreme Court and all High Courts have also been given the criteria. The Supreme Court has also told how many former judges are still judges.

The press release issued by the Supreme Court stated that the entire court decided on 1 April 2025 that the information of the property of the judges of the Supreme Court will be uploaded on the court website and kept in the public domain. The Supreme Court website states that the current Chief Justice (CJI) Sanjeev Khanna has a total of Rs 55.75 lakh in FD and bank accounts. Apart from this, there is an amount of 1.06 crore in his PPF account. Chief Justice Khanna has a 2 bedroom flat in South Delhi, 4 bedroom flat in Commonwealth Village. Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna holds a 56 per cent stake in the 4 bedroom flat in Gurugram. His daughter holds the remaining 44 per cent stake. At the same time, there is also an ancestral house in Himachal Pradesh.

Justice BR Gawai will take over the post of CJI from 14 May.

The current Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna is scheduled to retire on 13 May. He will be followed by Justice BR Gawai from May 14, the Chief Justice of the country. Talking about the property of Justice Bhushan Ramakrishna Gawai, he has 19.63 lakh rupees in his bank account. At the same time, Justice Gawai has only 6.59 lakh rupees in PPF account. Justice BR Gawai, the house of Amravati in Maharashtra, has inherited. Apart from this, he has also inherited the land of cultivated land in Amravati and Nagpur. Justice Gawai has flats in Mumbai and Delhi. Justice BR Gawai has a liability of Rs 1.3 crore.
