Nottingham Forest’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park cost them further points in the battle for UEFA Champions League qualifying.
With three games left, the draw keeps Palace in 12th place while dropping Forest to sixth place, two points outside the top five.
Eberechi Eze gave Palace the lead with a penalty kick, but Forest quickly responded with a goal from Murillo to split the points at Selhurst Park.
According to Nottingham Forest, after a cagey first twenty-five minutes, Forest’s first opportunity went to Elliot Anderson, who was picked out at the far post by Morgan Gibbs-White’s cross and his attempt struck the side netting.
Chris Wood played Anthony Elanga after a brief break, giving Forest their best opportunity of the first half. However, former Reds goalkeeper Dean Henderson produced a fantastic close-range save to preserve the score tied before halftime.
The game started to become more intense ten minutes after the resumption. Ismaila Sarr was denied a 20th goal of the season as Matz Sels made an incredible low stop to keep him out inside the Forest area. A swift counterattack then resulted in Wood’s close-range shot being vitally diverted behind by Maxence Lacroix.
Sels was deemed to have tripped Tyrick Mitchell inside the area on the hour, and Palace was given a penalty. The spot-kick was awarded after a VAR review, and Eze found the bottom corner to score 1-0.
However, Neco Williams kept a corner alive and sent a shot at goal, which Murillo deflected into the far corner to give Forest a 1-1 lead. Forest would not remain behind for long.
In a tight last quarter of an hour, both teams attempted to score. Palace thought they had a winner, but Eddie Nketiah’s close-range strike was disallowed for offside.
