Premier League to make major broadcast changes in 2025-26 with new cameras approach

Premier League cameramen will be allowed on to the pitch so that they can film goal celebrations next year. The new approach will look to bring viewers closer to the action.

Those using 'Steadicams', who are seen entering the pitch at the final whistle, will be allowed to do so while the game is taking place as part of a plan to give broadcasters better coverage following their huge investments. and pour huge sums into securing the rights for England's top flight and they will be able to show an improved product.

Some celebrations are already well captured, but that relies on the players rushing to parts of the pitch where the cameras are housed. Otherwise it relies on cameras zooming in to capture some of the more emotional and intimate moments of a game.

Sky have aired the since it began in 1992 and have continued to show games with unique insights, several of which have come and gone. Seeing celebrations up close will now add another dynamic.

As well as the new approach to filming celebrations radio commentators and pundits are expected to be allowed to film their reactions to goals and big moments in press boxes every week, reports the .

This is already being done by some broadcasters with the likes of , , and Robbie Savage filmed whilst they commentate on Sky or TNT with the reactions later being shared, often adding more of a personal insight.

Savage recently said: " is an emotional game, and if co-commentators convey their passion when they are watching something sensational, they are only reflecting what viewers are feeling in their armchairs at home. Whether or not you approved of our antics caught on the TNT ‘comms cam’, surely you can’t look at something so incredible and remain indifferent."

From 2025 will broadcast a record minimum of 215 Premier League matches a season after agreeing to a new four-year deal with the Premier League. The new deal begins with the 2025/26 season and the broadcasters will show at least four Premier League matches per week.
