Veteran actress Moushumi Chatterjee and her husband Jayant Mukherjee lost their first daughter Payal in 2019. Payal died at the age of 45 after a long battle with diabetes and was in a coma for two years before her death. She was married to businessman Dicky Sinha at the time. In a recent conversation Moushumi reminisced about her daughter and revealed how her family is still not over the loss. Moushumi also opened up about her differences with her former son-in-law Dicky Sinha. According to an old India Today report the two families had a rift after a dispute over a business collaboration. In 2018 Moushumi filed a petition in the Bombay High Court pleading to be appointed as Payals guardian. She accused Dicky and Payals in-laws of neglecting her medical needs. Payals in-laws did not pay her medical bills Moushumi also alleged that Payals in-laws refused to pay her medical bills and prevented her from meeting her daughter during her illness. In an interview to Nayandeep Rakshit she said I dont think my husband has fully recovered from Payals death. I too have not recovered from it. This emptiness will remain for the rest of our lives. Moushumi described the experience of going to court to meet her ailing daughter as torture and explained how the incident also affected her younger daughter Megha Chatterjee and her husband who were allegedly humiliated by Payals in-laws. Moushumi could not recover from Payals death The actress said We are not able to recover from this grief. When a child dies no one can recover from it. Payal was very affectionate towards Megha as there was an age difference of eight years between them. Talking about Jayants emotional situation after Payals death Mausami said Sometimes he would wake up at night and shout Payals name. You cannot describe these things in words. Mausami accused Payals in-laws and husband of neglect while Dicky had earlier accused the veteran actor of not attending Payals funeral or visiting her at the mortuary. In an earlier interview with Spotboye Dicky had said Mausami didnt even see Payals face after her death. She wasnt at the funeral; she didnt even come to the mortuary. However during her recent conversation Mausami denied this and shared that she had in fact visited the mortuary after Payals death. She also revealed that Payals body was kept in the morgue because the hospital bill was not paid. She said I went to the hospital when she passed away. She was kept in the mortuary because the hospital bill was not paid. I tolerated all that nonsense. Mausami said You learn from these things how many types of people there are on this earth.
