According to Dimsum Dailythe incident was recorded in a video shared on social media. In the video, Chow, who was out for a run along the Shanghai Bund, can be seen engaging in lighthearted exchanges with a police officer and passersby. As he jogged past, a group of fans, wearing masks, gathered around him, hoping for a chance to take photos. Among them was a young girl dressed in a white top and mask, who asked for a selfie with the star.

Some viewers commented that initially, Chow appeared less than thrilled about the interaction. His expression seemed to suggest displeasure, leading them to interpret his response as dismissive. However, after a brief moment, his demeanor reportedly softened, and he smiled for the photograph with the fan.

Despite the smile, some netizens accused Chow of offering a “fake smile” or appearing “cold-faced.” A few even described him as a “master of changing expressions.”

In contrast, many of Chow’s supporters quickly came to his defense. They pointed out that the actor was simply going about his personal time when the encounter took place and praised him for still engaging with fans during his private moments. Fans highlighted his long-standing reputation for being humble and kind-hearted, noting that Chow has always gone out of his way to connect with admirers.

Chow, now 70, has come a long way from his humble beginnings. Before making his mark in the entertainment industry in 1974 with Hong Kong broadcaster TVB, he worked various jobs, including as a shoeshine boy, office assistant, parcel delivery worker, hotel staff, and taxi driver.

He gained fame through TVB dramas such as “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly” and “The Bund.” Over his career, Chow has earned numerous accolades, including three Hong Kong Film Awards and two Golden Horse Awards for Best Actor.

In 2023, Chow was named Asian Filmmaker of the Year at the 28th Busan International Film Awards, making him the second Hong Kong actor, after Tony Leung, to receive the prestigious honor.
