The intruder, identified as Waqas, a resident of Tarkhal village across LoC, was arrested by the troops immediately after he entered the Indian territory in Chakan-Da-Bagh area of Poonch. Officials said initial investigation has revealed that Waqas had inadvertently crossed the LoC and no incriminating material was recovered from him at the time of his arrest.

Army officials informed that Pakistani troops continued to violate the ceasefire along LoC resorting to unprovoked firing across multiple sectors and prompting a strong and calibrated response from the Indian Army for the 12th consecutive night.

"During the night of May 5-6, Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked small-arms fire across the LoC... The Indian Army responded promptly and proportionately," said a defence spokesperson. The exchanges of fire are taking places in five districts out of seven border districts of Jammu & Kashmir.
