In the wake of India’s precision military strikes under Operation Sindoor on Wednesday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the United States will continue to engage with both Indian and Pakistani leadership in an effort to encourage a peaceful resolution to the escalating tensions between the two nations.
“I am monitoring the situation between India and Pakistan closely. I echo @POTUS’s comments earlier today that this hopefully ends quickly and will continue to engage both Indian and Pakistani leadership towards a peaceful resolution,” Rubio said in a post on social media platform X.
The US leader's remarks come amid growing international attention following India’s early Wednesday morning airstrikes on nine terror-linked sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK). The strikes were launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 civilians — including 25 Indians and one Nepali tourist — were killed.
Shortly after the strikes, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval spoke with the US Secretary of State to brief him on the actions taken during the Operation.
