In view of the possibility of war with Pakistan, the exercise to prepare the people of the country for it has begun. In this connection, the Home Ministry has asked all the states to conduct a mock drill of civil defense on Wednesday.
Along with this, it has been asked to activate the siren system in all the cities to give warning of air strikes and to give necessary training to keep the common people safe.
Efforts to make civil defense fully agile
According to highly placed sources, during war, civil defence plays an important role in taking the general public to safe places and maintaining smooth supply of essential commodities. An attempt will be made to make civil defence completely agile through mock drills.
Since there was no war after 1971, the siren system to alert about air raids was not tested. All states have been asked to update the siren systems and install new systems if needed.
Officials related to electricity supply also need to be alert
In case of an air raid, it is normal to have an immediate blackout by stopping the power supply. But it is important for the officials associated with the power supply to be prepared for this.
Along with this, necessary measures have also been asked to be taken to protect important plants and institutions from the enemy's eyes. During air attacks, it is important to evacuate the common people and take them to safe places.
Along with training the common people, civil defence also plays an important role in this. The Home Ministry has asked the states to prepare a plan to take the common people to safe places and rehearse it.
