Since there was no war after 1971, the siren system to alert about air raids was not tested. All states have been asked to update the siren systems and install new systems if needed.

Blackout rehearsal done in Punjab
Earlier on Sunday night, a blackout rehearsal of 30 minutes (from 9 pm to 9:30 pm) was done in the entire Ferozepur Cantt area of Punjab. This rehearsal was done on the instructions of the Cantonment Board/Station Commander. During this, the lights were completely switched off. If the lights of any vehicle were found burning, it was switched off. Police was deployed at all the intersections.
