If you also use YouTube and are annoyed with ads. Despite wanting to, if you are not able to subscribe to YouTube Premium due to it being expensive, then this news is for you. YouTube is now working on a new subscription plan which will be for two people. This new subscription tier has currently been launched as a pilot program in India, France, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
What is this new two-person plan?
Under this new plan, two people can share the same premium subscription, just like the Spotify Duo plan works. Its price in India has been kept at Rs 219 per month, which is cheaper than YouTube's existing family plan (Rs 299 per month).
Existing subscription options
Personal plan: Rs 149/month
Student plan: Rs 89/month
Family plan: Rs 299/month
New two-person plan (pilot): Rs 219/month
Main terms of this plan
Both members should be 13 years or older
Both should have a Google account
Both must live in the same house
Why was this plan launched?
YouTube wants to connect more and more people to premium services through this new subscription model and reduce its dependence on advertising. This plan gives users features like watching ad-free videos at a low price, offline downloads, and background playback, that too on two different accounts. Let us tell you that recently YouTube has also launched a Premium Lite plan in some countries, in which limited premium features are available at a low price.
