Late Tuesday evening was the time of the event.

According to authorities, the dead were named as Sitaram Shelke (45), Nanda Raut (35), and rickshaw driver Umashankar Varma (53), as reported by PTI.

The city received 20 mm of rain between 8:45 and 10:15 p.m., according to the Thane Municipal Corporation’s Disaster Management Cell.

Yasin Tadvi, the head of the disaster management section, told PTI that there were thirteen instances of trees collapsing.

Strong gusts and a lot of rain damaged brick kilns and standing crops in the nearby Palghar district, according to authorities.

Much-needed respite from the oppressive summer heat was provided Tuesday evening as an unexpected burst of thunderstorms and heavy rain fell on sections of Mumbai and the surrounding territories.

There were also thunderstorms and rain in several areas of the nearby districts of Thane and Raigad.

After a dust storm with strong winds, sections of the eastern suburbs and the island city saw light to moderate rain, while certain western suburbs, including Borivali, Kandivali, Malad, Andheri, and Bandra, had heavy rains.

In addition to slowing down traffic on the roads, the thunderstorm caused suburban local trains on the Central Railway and Western Railway networks to be delayed by at least 15 to 20 minutes.

In the midst of Mumbai’s unusually heavy rainfall, railway authorities acknowledged that the city’s suburban train services were impacted by the rain and high winds.

Mumbai residents are somewhat relieved that the city is seeing milder-than-normal temperatures as mid-May draws near, a time of extreme heat and heavy humidity. The present temps are surprisingly cooler than those seen this year in March and April. According to meteorologists, humidity levels have somewhat decreased, which is even more comforting for locals used to the sticky weather at this time of year.

Over the next several days, light showers are predicted to add to the cooling trend and provide a much-needed break before the monsoon. In its Mumbai rains report on Tuesday, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned of thunderstorms and light rain, issuing a “yellow alert” for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, and other areas of Maharashtra.
