At the Wankhede Stadium, GT defeated the Mumbai Indians (MI) by a margin of three wickets in the IPL 2025 match.

“Earlier in this competition, I made careful to hit the appropriate locations, but I missed my lengths. It takes time to get back to your best, and during rehab (three to four months following surgery), you are not in your greatest rhythm. I’m steadily getting there—between 75 and 80 percent. After the first inning of the match against MI, Rashid informed reporters, “I need to make sure that I get that surgery out of my mind.”

The 26-year-old also gave his buddy Sai Kishore kudos for his pivotal period. “As a spinner, you must strike the appropriate spots. The manner in which Sai grabbed two wickets during his stint. “It went well,” Rashid said.

Sai had taken two wickets for 34 runs in four overs when he returned to the pavilion. Hardik Pandya, the captain of Mumbai, and Suryakumar Yadav, a daring batsman, were both dismissed by him.

After the ODI World Cup 2023, Rashid had back surgery, and in May 2024, he was back on the pitch. He has been having trouble regaining his lost rhythm ever since. The 26-year-old’s season has been rough, as he has taken eight wickets in 11 games.

In the IPL 2025, he shown hints of bowling with his typical vigor and shone against the soaring MI. Rashid bowled his allotted four overs and came back with figures of 1/21.

The in-form Mumbai all-rounder Will Jacks was the victim of Rashid’s lone wicket. The Englishman scored 53 runs off 35 deliveries, including three maximums and five boundaries.

In 20 overs, Gujarat held Mumbai to 155 runs at a cost of eight wickets. On May 11, the Shubman Gill-led team will play the Delhi Capitals (DC).
