In an era where everyone is obsessed with all things Bollywood fans are fixated on everything about a celebrity - from fashion their event appearances to even their relationships. But besides this one prized possession of stars that usually turns into a pilgrimage for hardcore fans is the residence of the stars.  Whether it is Shah Rukh Khans Mannat Salman Khans Galaxy Apartments or Amitabh Bachchans Jalsa these residences draw thousands of fans who wait outside for hours just to see their idols or take a snap outside the gates. But even before these tony abodes became the object of fan fascination there was Aashirwad—the iconic bungalow of Rajesh Khanna the original superstar of Hindi films. Situated at Mumbai’s sea-facing Carter Road Aashirwad wasn’t just a luxurious property; it was a symbol of fame success and dreams. Yet despite its grandeur the house carried with it an unsettling reputation—one that came to be known as a curse. Rajesh Khanna the first superstar of India who enjoyed major stardom was one of the popular and sought-after stars with the highest pay in Indian cinema.  With an unbroken record of 15 solo hits from 1969 to 1971 Rajesh Khannas career was touching new heights until a new star Amitabh Bachchan emerged. In 1970 Rajesh Khanna bought Aashirwad for Rs. 3.5 lakhs when he was getting back-to-back successes and unprecedented fan mania. The bungalow originally named Dimple - named by its previous owner Rajendra Kumar- was renamed Aashirwad by Khanna. But soon after settling in Khannas luck started declining. His movies began flopping the limelight fell on then-emerging stars such as Amitabh Bachchan and his personal life also suffered—his marriage with Dimple Kapadia started to fall apart. However what made the tale more chilling was when the report of the earlier occupants bad destiny came out. . The top star of the 1950s Bharat Bhushan lost his career and his money after purchasing the house. Rajendra Kumar famous for his silver jubilee films also faced a similar decline and finally sold the bungalow to Khanna. The two actors thought the house was cursed and Khannas poor performances only added to the gossip. As much as the rumors of a curse intensified Khanna stayed at Aashirwad till his last days dying in 2011. Industrialist Shashi Kiran Shetty bought the bungalow in 2014 for Rs. 90 crores. He leveled the old house and built a new property on the site—maybe hoping to end the line of bad luck associated with the land. While Aashirwad was once associated with fame its now recalled for the dark secrets that hung over its occupants
