Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Pakistan’s entertainment industry has not taken kindly to India’s latest tri-service military operation known as Sindoor which is termed as a “cowardly act” by numerous Pakistani Celebrities. The Operation that Sindoor executes also includes destroying nine terror compound sites located in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The reactions were first ignited by Mahira Khan, a prominent actress, who reposted a tweet by Fatima Bhutto, “Seriously cowardly!!! May Allah protect our country, may better sense prevail. Ameen,” and added her own comment.
Social media comments gain traction as they go public
These kinds of comments that Hania Aamir makes reflect worrying sentiments about India-Pakistan relations, commonly known as the ‘nuclear nightmare’. Aamir’s was “Cowardly” in one of her Instagram stories. The fear of an armed conflict between India and Pakistan is deadly serious especially for people living in either country.
A new wave of digital restrictions have been imposed. In India, the Instagram accounts of Mahira Khan, Hania Aamir, Fawad Khan, and Ali Zafar have been geo-blocked. Now, Indian users attempting to visit these accounts receive the notification, “Account not available in India. This is because we complied with a legal request to restrict this content.”
Indians were quick to defend the operation claiming it was targeted and measured.
The authorities have been unapologetic while defending the operation, calling it “measured, precise, and non-escalatory.” They used strong language like “neutralizing” when talking about the destruction of terrorist infrastructure; however, they made it clear that no Pakistani military or civilian sites were to be harmed.
The confirmation of the success of the mission was declared by the Indian Army with the statement, “Justice is served. Jai Hind.” Other political figures also supported the action like Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju and Bandi Sanjay Kumar who strongly agreed with the military action calling it appropriate in light of the April 22 Pahalgam attack where 26 civilians were killed.
Victims and Affected Areas
According to reports, the airstrikes killed a minimum of 17 terrorists and over 60 others were injured. The airstrikes focused on the major terror camps located in Kotli, Ahmadpur Sharqia, Muzaffarabad, Muridke, and Faisalabad. Indian authorities emphasized that the Pakistani military installations were purposefully left unstruck to mitigate the potential for heightened conflict.
