Wednesday’s reports claim that Milan are among the clubs interested in a potential deal for Leeds United left-back Junior Firpo, who has been heavily linked with a move away from Elland Road in the summer, particularly to LaLiga outfit Real Betis.
The 28-year-old full-back has just achieved promotion from the EFL Championship with Leeds, beating Burnley to the league title on goal difference on the final day of the season, but with his contract due to expire on June 30 and with no announcement over an extension, Firpo is increasingly likely to leave.
Milan interested in out-of-contract Leeds United defender
The Dominican Republic international began his career in Spain, joining the Real Betis youth academy in 2014, where he would go on to make his professional debut before joining Barcelona in 2019.
He then joined Leeds in a €15m deal in 2021, with Barcelona retaining a 25% sell-on clause. However, with Firpo now likely to leave on a free transfer, Barcelona will not be entitled to any compensation.
While reports suggest that a return to Real Betis is on the cards, reports from TBR Football claim that Milan are also interested in a deal for Junior Firpo in the event that Rossoneri left-back Theo Hernandez is sold during the summer transfer window.
Wednesday’s reports claim that Premier League sides Everton, Crystal Palace and West Ham are also interested, as well as Real Betis and potentially even Atletico Madrid.
