US Fed holds rates at 4.50%, warns of rising inflation risk

The United States Federal Reserve on Wednesday held interest rates steady and warned of growing risks to its inflation and employment objectives, in what appeared to be a veiled reference to President Donald Trump’s tariff policies.
Policymakers voted unanimously to maintain the central bank’s benchmark lending rate at a range of 4.25% to 4.50%. In its statement, the Fed noted that “swings in net exports” had not significantly affected overall economic activity — a likely allusion to the spike in imports during the first quarter ahead of expected tariff increases.
