In the face of rising military tensions, Pakistani authorities have stopped granting No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to Indian movies.
The move has been made due to the prevailing tense environment and it includes all Indian movies, including Bollywood and Punjabi films.
No Indian movie will be approved for a screening in Pakistan in the meantime. Any pending NOC applications in different government departments have also been halted.
This step is meant to uphold public opinion and avoid any possible backlash amidst the current regional war.
In a recent statement, Pakistan’s military spokesperson, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif, condemned the recent Indian attacks on Pakistani soil. According to General Sharif, India launched unprovoked assaults on six locations across Pakistan last night. The attacks resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians and injuries to 46 others, including several women and children.
One of the targets was the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project, where Indian forces damaged the Noseri Dam’s infrastructure. General Sharif confirmed that Pakistan has the right to respond to these acts of aggression. He also stated that the response would come at a time and place of Pakistan’s choosing.
