Google is rolling out the May 2025 security update for a slew of Pixel users this week and most people should get it gradually on their eligible phones. However, the new update not only fixes some performance bugs and security issues, it also fixes some major issues that were plaguing users over the last few months linked to some important features on their devices.
Google Pixel May 2025 Update: What It Offers
The Pixel users get the latest May 2025 security patch for Android which helps you protect from new issues that have surfaced in the last few months. Google is quick to offer these updates for the Pixel devices but its gradual roll out means not everyone gets it on day one.
However, the new update also carries more weight for these users as the Pixel phones now have fixes for the mic recording and Bluetooth pairing issues.
Many Pixel users have complained about the mic recording quality going down with certain apps, while the Bluetooth pairing was having issues while connecting to select smartwatches.
We have not been independently able to verify these issues or got the May 2025 update yet but these details are being widely reported which suggests the release should happen soon.
Google’s Pixel update with the May 2025 security patch is available for Pixel 6 and later models, including this year’s Pixel 9 series along with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 9a and more.
Google has also made some moves with the Messages app in markets like India where the spam RCS issues have been annoying. Now a new “Unsubscribe” option is coming to the Google Messages app in countries like India. The new feature is basically offering users some reprieve from annoying spam messages that have littered through its Rich Communication Services (RCS) and SMSs.
It has been stated that the most recent version will enable users to better control promotional items in the message inbox. Furthermore, users will be able to keep their inboxes clutter-free and cleaner.
