New Delhi hosts Iran and Saudi Ministers

Synopsis

India briefed Saudi Arabia and Iran on Operation Sindoor, its response to the Pakistan-backed Pahalgam terror attacks. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar emphasized that the operation was a measured and precise response targeting only terror infrastructure. Both Saudi Arabia and Iran had condemned the Pahalgam attacks, which were abetted and shaped by Pakistan.

New Delhi: India on Thursday hosted ministers from two key pillars of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation - Saudi Arabia and Iran (also a neighbour of Pakistan) - to debrief on Operation Sindoor which it described as a response following the escalation by Pakistan through the Pahalgam terror attacks.

The Pahalgam attacks abetted and shaped by Pakistan that had been condemned by both Saudi Arabia and Iran figured prominently in external affairs minister S Jaishankar's back-to-back meetings with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi and Saudi minister Adel Al-Jubeir here.

The minister explained to his visitors that India's response was measured, precise and non-escalatory, only targeting terror infrastructure.
