India’s New Delhi After their game was abandoned, Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) are having some difficulties qualifying for the Indian Premier League (IPL) playoffs. Floodlight failure at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium on Thursday forced the cancellation of PBKS vs DC’s IPL 2025 match.
Each team received a point. With seven wins and three losses from their 12 games, Punjab Kings rose to third position on the points table after the postponed game.
With 16 points, the squad led by Shreyas Iyer has to win only one of their last two tournament games to guarantee a postseason berth.
Even if they lose both of their games, they will still have a good chance of qualifying since they have already reached 16 points; nevertheless, their ability to qualify at that point will depend on NRR and the results of other games.
On the other hand, with six wins, 14 points, and four losses in 12 games, DC is now ranked sixth in the standings. The Axar Patel-led squad has to win both of its remaining games to reach 18 points and ensure a clean route to qualifying.
They will still have a chance, however, if they win one game and lose another; this will depend on how other games turn out and the NRR. Since DC still has two games left against the Mumbai Indians (MI) and Gujarat Titans (GT), a loss in both games would mean the end of their tournament run.
Delhi will be eliminated from the competition and both clubs will advance to the playoffs if DC loses both of their games against GT and MI. The two teams with the most points in the standings are GT and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
With eight wins and three losses from their 11 games, they now have 16 points and need to win one of their next three games to ensure a clear route to playoff qualifying.
