IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal said that the match between the Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was cancelled for security concerns on Thursday after air raid sirens in the surrounding regions caused a blackout in the hill town.

PBKS was 122/1 in 10.1 overs when the game was called off, as indicated by the stadium floodlights being switched off.

“Yes, the game has been cancelled as a precaution because, I understand, there have been some events in Jammu. We learnt that, therefore, we decided it would be prudent to cancel the game,” Dhumal told IANS from Dharamshala.

This agency is aware that, for security concerns, the tournament and local authorities have begun to remove spectators and both teams from the HPCA stadium. The event followed a total blackout in Jammu, during which locals reported seeing missile streaks in the sky and drone assaults coming from Pakistan.

Baramulla and Pathankot have reported experiencing a total blackout, while Chandigarh has also received a complete blackout signal. An exciting opening partnership of 122 runs was shared by Prabhsimran Singh (50 not out) and Priyansh Arya (70) in the match that began an hour later than scheduled.

Arya chose to bat first, but he was off target right away, hitting Mitchell Starc for consecutive boundaries. Before Arya hit Chameera for a four and two sixes, Prabhsimran Singh went on Starc from the other end, hitting him for three boundaries. DC had little reprieve even when Axar Patel was brought on in the fifth over, as PBKS concluded the power-play at 69/0.

Arya then lofted Axar for six to maintain his aggressive style of play before hitting his fifty off 25 balls. Even after Madhav Tiwari was brought in, PBKS was unstoppable, reaching their century in 8.5 overs. Then, when PBKS reached 122/0 at the midway point, Arya showed off his attacking instincts by lofting Kuldeep for successive sixes. Prabhsimran then struck him for four and made his fourth straight fifty off 28 balls.

In summary, Punjab Kings defeated Delhi Capitals 122/1 in 10.5 overs (Priyansh Arya 70, Prabhsimran Singh 50 not out; T Nataraja 1-4).
