The Mohanlal starrer film 'Thudderum' has earned Rs 130 crore at the box office in nine days. Directed by Tarun Murthy, the film has made a mark not only in India but also abroad. In the film, Mohanlal plays the role of a middle class named 'Benz', so that common people are able to connect themselves easily. Director Tarun Murthy recently interacted with the success of the film, his experience with Mohanlal and further plans.

How was the film born?
Tarun Murthy says that 12 years ago writer K.R. Sunil and filmmaker M. Ranjit told this story to Mohanlal, but the director could not be decided. When Tarun's second film 'Saudi Velka' was a hit, Ranjit called him and asked if he would like to direct Mohanlal's film. For Tarun, this dream was like coming true.

How to coin Mohanlal?
Tarun said, “I add new angles, emotions and action to the script to increase the scale of the film, but the soul of the story remains intact. I also included my fanboy moments, but took care that the mood of the film did not deteriorate – and all this went!”

What did the director say on comparison with 'Drishyam'?
“When Mohanlal becomes a family man, it is bound to be remembered by 'Drishyam'. But 'Thuderum' is not my mystery, but a revision drama,” Tarun clarified.

Prakash Verma's election for Villain George
Earlier there was a plan to bring an artist outside, but due to the need of Malayalam, Prakash Verma's name came. Despite being an ad director, Prakash read the script and knew that he was to work in front of Mohanlal, he was surprised – and finally shown amazing.
